How Do We Manage Road Congestion in the Croydon area?
In Croydon, Mooroolbark and Kilsyth we are becoming used to seeing daily traffic delays and over-crowded roads. Peak hours are increasing in duration and with all this extra traffic, there has been a rise in poorly maintained roads, congestion that causes hazards and frustration, and endless delays that slow everyone down. I want to help solve the road congestion issues in these areas and make sure the daily commute gets better, not worse.
Roads – linking our communities and keeping traffic flowing
With Melbourne and Victoria continuing to record unprecedented levels of population growth, the need to deliver critical infrastructure to ease pressure on our roads has never been greater. Unless urgent action is taken now, traffic congestion is expected to cost the economy up to a staggering $10.2 billion a year by 2030, as well as significantly impact upon Victoria’s prized liveability. With census data showing that 74% of Melburnians take a car to work every day, more of Labor’s band-aid approach to roads won’t cut it anymore. As the Liberal Nationals’ spokesperson for Roads & Infrastructure, I am pleased to have led the development of our bold and visionary plan to get Victoria moving again. This is a plan which will see the removal of 55 of Melbourne and Geelong’s most dangerous and congested intersections, the construction of both an East West Link and a North East Link, plus a range of other initiatives right across regional and rural Victoria.
