VEMTC – David Hodgett

Officially opened in July 2014, this $109 million state-of-the-art training facility in Craigieburn is a benchmark for emergency services training excellence across Australia and has gained international recognition. The $30 million Victoria Police Operational Tactics and Safety Training facility located adjacent to the VEMTC was also completed later that year.

The site offers personnel the opportunity to take part in emergency scenarios such as searching collapsed buildings, carrying out road rescues and fighting a multi-level fire in realistic settings that include shops, vehicles, tunnels and a petrochemical site. An educational facility is on site and includes classrooms, a science room, breathing apparatus rooms and a command control centre.

The centre caters for both career and volunteer emergency service personnel from agencies including the MFB, CFA, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, SES and the Department of Environment & Primary Industries.
